Click to enlargeThe Elizabethan Gallery This was originally a grammar school established by Royal Charter in 1591. Queen Elizabeth I gave permission for the school to use her name, thus 'Queen Elizabeth Grammar School' (QEGS) was founded. The school moved to its present home in Northgate in 1855. This building is to be included in the new Trinity Walk development, one of Wakefield's regeneration schemes (currently underway in 2010).
