The library is a new building opposite Walton Methodist Church in Shay Lane and is adjacent to the school. The building's appeance itself has little to commend it, but the library has good facilities and provides an important service to the village.

In 2007 the library moved into its new premises in Shay Lane, and the old library was sold at auction in Leeds for a hammer price of £194,000. In 2008, the building was back on the market.
