One of the gate piers at the entrance to the car park. Probably early C19. It has a carved frieze decorated with linked circles (similar to the gate piers at Walton Hall Bridge over the canal). The pier is surmounted by a base for a ball finial (now gone). This is Grade II listed.

There is access through metal gate that is now in place. Walkers need to press the button on the gate pier for the gate to open wide enough for a pedestrian. The gates should open automatically for cars but a code is required to leave, it is available from the hotel reception.
There is public access across the golf course at the far end of the car park behind the hotel annexe. |
